Courage and Dedication

he design for the relief sculpture that enhances the entrances to the Scenic Drive pedestrian tunnel was originally created in response to the public art call for the Royal View Cemetery Gate project. The design was developed to engage and captivate the viewer; allowing them to quietly reflect on the hard work, diligence and pride of the miners who were responsible for the mining legacy in this area. The sculpture consists of a backdrop of the mining facility superimposed with the figures of miners in various work related poses that illustrate Lethbridge’s mining history. The relief sculptures installation at the entrance to a tunnel is rather enchanting and very appropriate.
